What you bring to the table

Beck is looking for a qualified Director of Preconstruction to lead and manage the Preconstruction process and extraordinary team in the Dallas Regional Office as well as support and provide professional input to our other Preconstruction departments within The Beck Group. You will be responsible for the estimating and bidding process from start to finish to ensure accuracy and completeness within the framework of our company financial goals. You will also be responsible for providing a strategic framework for Beck's national preconstruction group.

The position involves the following essential functions:

  • Train and mentor Preconstruction Team while participating & supporting cross-training initiatives
  • Actively involved with the Business Development group to pursue new work as well as develop new client relationships and nurture existing ones
  • Identify new leads and take a leadership role in pursuing such leads when appropriate
  • As a leader within the Dallas Regional Office, actively engage and participate in the local community
  • Participate internally at Beck on Committees and Groups in a Leadership Role
  • Part of the Dallas Regional Leadership Group responsible for strategic hires and staffing, financial goals, and strategic objectives

You also possess excellent time management skills, uncompromising authenticity and integrity, a passion to get things done, and confidence to present and win project pursuits. An ideal candidate will have an interest in the integrated project delivery method and innovation of process improvement and technology.

You also meet the following requirements:

  • 15+ years of Preconstruction or related field experience with general contractor and/or major subcontractor preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited University
  • Experience leading a team
  • Successfully led multiple projects simultaneously
  • Hard bid experience with a proven track record of successful wins
  • Knowledge of the local market construction practices, means and methods, and buy out strategies
  • Ability to develop conceptual and programmatic estimates quickly off of very little information
  • Ability to maintain and update historical costs
  • Ability to conduct preconstruction team meetings with various disciplines including Architects, Consultants, and Project Managers
  • Ability to identify risk factors regarding contract, insurance, schedule, safety, etc.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Revit, Onscreen Takeoff, BIM, and Excel or comparable preconstruction technologies
  • Experience with DProfiler, iSqFt, Innovaya, Timberline, and/or SketchUp is a plus

Physical Demands:

Frequently required to sit, stand, and move about the office; frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of project team; ability to adhere to timely and consistent attendance.
