What you bring to the table

Beck is looking for a qualified Senior Designer to join our Austin office. The Senior Designer is responsible for the most complex projects of the largest magnitude with the opportunity to develop solutions and create project designs and plans. Beck is one of the most advanced users of 3D modeling tools in the design process, so the candidate should be comfortable modeling in either Skectchup, form.z, Rhino, or Revit and also have the ability to graphically communicate through hand drawing.  The ability to work in a collaborative environment is important since there is frequent teaming across disciplines and across offices.

The job involves the following responsibilities:

  • Initiate and create project designs and plans of all phases for one or more projects, producing hand drawings when needed
  • Identify customer's needs and understand their culture
  • Prepare presentation and design drawings
  • Maintain design intent through coordination of the design team
  • Promote collaboration and integration throughout the design and construction process
  • Serve as Market Sector expert in design
  • Work closely with the Project Manager/Project Architect to execute the design
  • Independently lead simultaneous design efforts for multiple projects and direct design team
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and internal competitions
  • Perform ongoing design reviews
  • Effectively manage client relationships and design staff
  • Mentoring and training of younger staff
  • Market/Sell Beck exhibits the ability to present a strong vision of the company
  • Enjoy working in a team environment

A reliable Senior Designer with the ability to lead both clients and other design staff. An individual that is looked up to by their peers. An individual with the understanding of complex Architecture and some project planning experience with a passion for design. This person will have the ability to sell Beck and encourage repeat business from our clients. An individual with a desire to get things done, a flawless executor and possessing an uncompromising authenticity and integrity.

You also meet the following requirements:

  • 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Has successfully led design efforts on multiple projects
  • Professional Registration

Essential Functions:

Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment, ability to coordinate and participate in client meetings, constantly communicates with project team and related parties, ability to maintain best practices related to architectural design and production and ability to adhere to consistent attendance.  May require travel or co/location.

Physical Demands:

Walking frequently around the office or outdoors may be required

Ability to carry large plans or boxes in excess of 10 lbs
