Subcontractor Qualification Manager (Location: Dallas/Corporate Office)

The Beck Group is seeking a high-performance individual to join a team of three risk management professionals to support Beck's corporate function, as well as seven domestic and one international regional operations teams. The SQ Manager will evaluate, develop, implement, communicate and monitor programs geared toward mitigating the frequency, as well as the financial impact, of subcontractor breach and default.  This position is primarily a financial management position that requires a working knowledge of credit management, financial statement analysis and insurance in the commercial construction space. 

  • Embrace primary direct ongoing responsibility for all aspects of Beck's subcontractor qualification processes, data, systems, policies and programs. Will collaborate with selected brokers and consultants to deliver world-class risk management and preconstruction support to Beck. 
  • Implement system to document, track and communicate qualifications to Operations and Preconstruction teams.
  • Ensure that subcontractor candidates receive an in depth financial analysis and rating; a review of business practices, credit evaluation, safety results, evaluation of workload, access to labor and other capital.
  • Develop deeper relationships with financial and executive management of subcontractor firms, including in person interviews and visits. Identify needs that Beck can assist in fulfilling, as well as exposures to loss and weaknesses in their stability to perform fully.
  • Support the Risk Management team in Subcontractor Default insurance program management, including enrollment, billing, claims and audit.
  • Evaluate the need for alternative financial security in the form of surety bonds
  • Meet with corporate and regional leadership to communicate program structures, objectives, allocation methodologies and other information for subcontractor qualification


  •  Undergraduate degree in finance, business or risk management
  • 7-10 years' work experience in procurement, preconstruction, or SQ processes
  • CPA, CFM or other related professional designation preferred
  • Above average communication skills and the ability to deal very effectively with senior managers throughout the corporation as well as senior external professional
